Your Laguiole knife is crafted entirely by the skilled artisans at the Laguiole en Aubrac workshop. The blade, intricately guilloché spring, solid brass bolsters, and pins are all forged in-house at Laguiole en Aubrac.
The handle is made from vine stock wood sourced from ancient vineyards in southern France, where the vines have aged and their productivity has waned. These venerable vines, essential for producing exceptional wines, are eventually uprooted to rejuvenate the land for new, more productive growth.
While vine stock wood is often repurposed into heating pellets, it also finds new life in cutlery and decorative items. Its color ranges from light to dark brown, influenced by age, exposure, and grape variety, with striking contrasts from its grain, knots, and darker sections. This durable, noble, and tactile wood is an excellent match for Laguiole knives.
For aficionados of wine and collectors of knives with historical wood, this Laguiole with vine wood handle is perfect. It even features a corkscrew, making it ideal for opening a fine bottle of wine anywhere.
The handle’s left side is adorned with the traditional shepherd’s cross.
